Tips for Home Painting

There are 4 major brands available - Asian Paints, Dulux, Berger, Nerolac

Go for matt and non-washable for ceiling as its cheaper. 

Choose between matt or gloss for interior walls.

When selecting the paint shade

1. Ensure that the same brand machine is used as paint.
2. 90 Base should be used instead of white base.
3. Once color is tinted by machine, drop it on the shade card to confirm if its matching.

Suppose rental for ladder is Rs50/day and your paint job will take say 20 days then its better to buy the 8ft/7step ladder for Rs600.

Mix the Dr. Fixit in putty if its being used in damp areas.

Use oil based primer mixed in same qty as turpentine oil to be applied after putty and sanding to create a good base before painting. This will save you additional 1-2 coats of plastic paint which is 4x costlier than primer.

Buy paint rollers and masking tape from Asian rather than local brands. The costing is same with better quality.

Buy black polythene sheet roll (12ft wide) for covering sofa, almirah, tables to protect them from dust. Rs40/mtr.

Buy items in necessary quantity only otherwise lot of material will be wasted. Don't buy everything in larger packs because its comparatively cheaper.
