Documents to Carry
- Petition
- Stanley / MRV Receipt of USD190 or INR 12920
- Appointment Letter (signed and stamped at Biometric center)
- DS160 Confirmation Page with Barcode
- Demand Draft USD 500 or INR 34000 (Fraud Verification Fees)
- Passport
- 4 Photos (50mm x 50mm)
Supporting Documents
- Educational Degrees/Certificates
- 6 months salary slips and bank statements
- Employment Proof
- Form-16 for last 3 years
Guidelines for the Visa Interview at Chennai
You have to prove these 3 points.
- Experience: Show a proof that shows that you are employed for more than 1 year with the sponsoring company.
- Ties b/w India and US offices: If your company has a blanket L1 then you don't need to prove this point. Otherwise you need to prove how India office is contributing to US office.
- Special Knowledge:
- Unusual skills within the company.
- Skills that cannot be gained by others quickly.
Sample Questions
- Which company do you work for?
- How long you have been employed with this company?
- Where are you going to work in US?
- How much salary do you receive in India?
- What will be your designation in US?
- How much salary will you receive in US?
- What is the special knowledge that you posses?
- How many people are working on that project and for how long?
- Why your company has chosen you over others?
Outcome of the Interview (any 1 of below 3)
- Approved: They will keep the passport and then return 2 copies of I129S along with the visa.
- Administrative Processing: They have started conducting these check after 9/11 incident. This may take from 2 to 8 weeks.
- Rejected: They may or may not give reason for denial. They mostly say that you have applied in wrong category.
Guidelines when you are in the queue at Chennai
- Try to schedule an early time slot like 8AM. Later the time slot more the queue and waiting time.
- Remember to keep the whole day free for the interview as it may take upto 3/4 hrs.
- Prepare 3 sets of (Form I-129S pages 1 to 4 and Form I-797 page 1)
- Handover the above mentioned 3 sets along with Fraud Detection DD and passport.
- They will handover a payment receipt after validating the DD.
- Finally move from the general queue to the specified window for the interview.
